wealth as energy

“Dear reader, today I invite you to reflect with me on a powerful truth about wealth…”

As a young doctor, fresh out of medical school and plunged into the demanding routine of a busy hospital, I learned the virtues of discipline and patience not just in medical practice, but also in financial management. There was a month when my schedule was so packed that I quite unintentionally saved a considerable amount of money. This led me to realize that wealth is not merely the sum of money in one’s bank account. It is a broader energy, a responsibility that reflects one’s inner state.

Wealth encompasses more than monetary value; it is about the conscientious management of this resource. This stewardship enriches the Five Pillars of Life: Health, Relationships, Financial Wisdom, Knowledge, and Inner Peace.

Health benefits from ethical financial management as it reduces stress and encourages stability, fostering mindful choices. In relationships, money handled with trust and shared responsibility results in harmony. Financial Wisdom grows from ethical earning, mindful spending, and making decisions aligned with one’s values. This wisdom is further nourished by the constant pursuit of Knowledge, as every financial decision offers an opportunity for learning and deepening awareness. Finally, a proper understanding of wealth brings Inner Peace, achieved through detachment, contentment, clarity, and gratitude.

An effective way to navigate financial well-being is through the lens of the T.E.A.R. Formula: Thought → Energy → Action → Result. Ethical thoughts create clean financial energy, shaping disciplined actions which then lead to stable, prosperous results. Prosperity, when shared in service, transforms into something sacred—which aligns deeply with spiritual practice.

In my trading experience, I can testify to the benefits of ethical earning and mindful spending. There were moments in volatile markets when detachment taught during my spiritual journeys with Sai Baba was crucial. Money is a tool for service-based prosperity, to be used with values and awareness, not merely accumulated.

I suggest adopting some actionable wealth habits:

1. Time-blocking for financial review—allocate specific times to assess financial health regularly. 2. Setting a monthly charity or service-based budget to remind ourselves that wealth is as much about giving as it is about receiving. 3. Maintaining a gratitude ledger—recording earnings and expenses with appreciation transforms perspective. 4. Practiced mindful spending, pausing before buying, helps distinguish between genuine needs and fleeting wants. 5. Understanding emotional triggers behind financial decisions, allows for greater control and informed choices.

Reflecting on these practices, I recall moments when discipline and responsibility in medical practice parallel my approach to wealth. Nurturing these principles across different aspects of my life taught me the depth of financial detachment and the role of wealth in the spiritual journey.

In the words of Sai Baba, “Money comes and goes; morality comes and grows.” This guides us to see beyond the immediate and transient nature of wealth to the enduring value of morality.
